Paint By Number Wall Murals-Use a Grid to Easily Create Your Own Paint By Number Wall Murals by Pamela Burns
Although paint by number wall murals aren't expensive, you may still want to make your own pattern to make it even more unique. Using a grid is one of the ways this can be done. Of course more work is involved, but your wall mural will only be the cost of the paint and the paint brushes, plus your time.
This kind of paint by number wall murals method is best if you use a coloring book page, or a drawing from something with a clear white background.
Since many coloring book pages are about 8″x 11″, the scale of your wall mural will be 8′x 11′. Now most ceilings aren't 11 feet from the floor. So what you can do before you get started making your grid, is trim from the top and bottom of the coloring book page until you get it to the height that you want your paint by number wall murals to be.
If you trim your paper until it's 8 inches x 8 inches, then your wall mural is going to end up being 8 feet x 8 feet. Now take a ruler or something straight, and lightly, draw horizontal and vertical lines over the coloring book page. Make sure all the lines are exactly 1 inch apart. You will then end up with a grid that looks something like a checker board.
Now, at the wall that you chose for your paint by number wall murals, draw an 8 foot x 8 foot square first, then make the horizontal and vertical lines 1 foot apart until you end up with a checker board look.
Use your coloring book page as a guide to draw in the squares on your wall. It's very easy and accurate because you're only working with one foot at a time. Plus you have plenty of start and stop points in each square to guide you.
Now you have a great big drawing on your wall to have fun with to paint whatever color you choose.
For even more control of your drawing, it may help to draw the grid in half inch increments on the page, and six inch increments on the wall. Be sure make a couple of copies of the page that you will be making in the event you make a mistake while drawing your grid.
Go ahead and try it on a sheet of paper first to see how easy it will be to draw it just how you want it.
