A Fresh Willy, Gilbert And AJ Show Interview

by Lawrence Glover

This time, my more rough journalist friend, David Collins, has a one-on-one interview with each star at a time.

First, the Willy, Gilbert & AJ Show's Willy Moreno gets interviewed.

WILLY: "I might say, thanks for having me here."

DAVID: "Yes. It's great. But there are some controversial things about this show, especially the portrayal of yourself, no doubt. I mean, if you look at some of these plot outlines, it's headed for trouble."

WILLY: "I would think so, but it's about. . .um, really, just making you think about kids. And what kids are really like. It's all about making people talk, about breaking out of stereotypes."

DAVID: "Noble. But why the. . .madman image? Why anything? I'm also to understand there was an episode, a film, which was a prequel, in which you massacre an entire crowd of people, who try to destroy your show. Doesn't it make you think maybe an impressionable teen could get their dad's gun and go to school?"

WILLY: "Well, our humor shouldn't be blamed for that. You have to blame people like. . .you know, Seung-Hui Cho, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Obviously. I mean, you know. . .think about the fact that. . .Marilyn Manson was blamed horribly for Columbine. Think about the fact that those kids weren't massive Marilyn Manson fans, but they blamed him, anyway. Cause. . .the society, completely immature. Can't admit when they're wrong. . .but the Virgina-Tech Massacre, who knows what excuse they'll forge. . .it was a tragedy, but it was honestly that society's a fault. That doesn't justify anything. A holocaust survivor died. That doesn't justify his death. It doesn't justify the deaths of any of those 3o-odd people. But he said, "You caused me to do this.", so what does it tell you? This kind of thing would be different it social rejects and outcasts weren't pushed so far."

That's all there is, so far.
